Fruit bud
differentiation (FBD) pattern varied in guava cultivars Sardar,
Allahabad Safeda and Thailand in experiments at Lucknow, India. Shoot
morphology indicated that FBD took place in the growing vegetative buds
throughout the shoot growing season. Shoot emergence in October,
November, December, February and March produced the rainy season crop.
Shoots emerging in April and July produced the winter season crop while
August and September shoots produced the spring season crop.
Differentiated shoots were longer than non-differentiated ones. It was
not necessary for shoots to reach a given length or produce a given
number of leaves before FBD could commence. |
